The rainy day plan for a dog with too much energy

Three days of rain and a border collie. Without a plan, that maths ends with excavated couch cushions. With a plan, it is actually pretty fun.

Rotation beats repetition

The trick is three short sessions, not one long one, rotating through different kinds of work:

• Physics: the treat tumbler ($35) wobbles and pays out kibble for effort. Twenty minutes of focus.
• Problem solving: the Duck Treat Puzzle ($35) hides treats behind sliders and under the duck. Genuinely challenging.
• The chase: the smart chase car ($39) drives itself and gets hunted down the hallway. High energy, zero effort from the couch.

End on calm

Finish with something lickable or chewable on their bed. Work then rest is the pattern that makes rainy days easy instead of chaotic.
